Here's how it works:
With hub-piloted wheels, the weight of the wheels rests on the top pilots creating a gap on the bottom pilots. A gap as small as the width of a busniess card creates an off-centering "egg shaped" motion upon rotation. This uneven motion causes increased fuel consumption, uneven tire wear and tire vibration that balancing alone cannot correct. The bottom line is you can't balance an egg.
Please see our diagrams below for more information.
Solution AThis is a reusable tool that is used at the 12, 4 and 8 o'clock positions when mounting the tires. Once the wheels have been mounted, the three centering pins are removed. One set includes three centering pins.

Solution BThis wheel centering sleeve set is for use on STEER WHEELS ONLY. These sleeves stay on the wheel permanently and center the brake drum (universal brake drums) as well as the wheel. These sleeves are threaded inside for proper alignment and are used at the 12, 4 and 8 o'clock positions. One set includes six sleeves and will center one axle. (Use three sleeves per wheel)

Solution CThis wheel centering sleeve set is for use on steer and drive wheels as well as most trailers. These sleeves stay on the wheel stud permanently and are used at the 12, 4 and 8 o'clock positions. One set includes six sleeves and will center one axle. (Use three sleeves per wheel)
